Career highlights
- David Hodnett joined the group in March 2019, as the group chief risk and ethics officer.
- In line with the changes to the group’s operating model, the role changed to chief risk and corporate affairs officer with effect from 1 January 2021.
- Between August 2021 and 31 December 2021 he had stepped in as the interim chief executive officer for business and commercial clients for the group following the departure of Zweli Manyathi from the group. He resumed his role as chief risk and corporate affairs officer with effect 1 January 2022.
- In 2024, he was the interim Chief Executive, Personal and Private Banking while Funeka Montjane was on parental leave.
- David was appointed as the Chief Executive of SBSA on 10 October 2025.
